One of South Bali's most important commercial arteries, Sunset Road runs roughly between the Kuta/Legian area and Sanur, lined with a dense stretch of shops, restaurants, banks and services — genuinely useful to know by name since drivers, delivery apps and locals reference it constantly, distinct from the smaller residential gang (lanes) most accommodation actually sits on.
02The Bali Mandara Toll Road
An elevated toll road connects the airport area to Nusa Dua and Benoa, built specifically to bypass South Bali's worst ground-level congestion — a genuinely useful shortcut for anyone transferring directly between the airport and the Nusa Dua resort area, at the cost of a small toll fee. It doesn't help much for trips into Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu, which sit off this particular route.
03Why "Jalan Raya" shows up everywhere
"Jalan Raya" simply translates to "main road" and appears as a prefix in numerous town names across Bali (Jalan Raya Ubud, Jalan Raya Canggu, and so on) — worth knowing so a repeated road name across different areas doesn't cause confusion when giving or receiving directions.
04When traffic is genuinely worst
