01 Meet the TATS News Team

The TATS News Team is a small team of real human editors and researchers responsible for keeping travellers informed about the stories that actually matter. From visa changes and new flight routes to destination updates, tourism rules and major travel developments, our job is to find the news, work out what it means and explain it without turning every minor announcement into breaking news.
We also make extensive use of artificial intelligence. AI helps our team discover stories, research topics, compare sources, translate information, analyse lengthy documents and assist with writing and editing. It allows a small human team to keep an eye on travel developments across a huge number of destinations without spending half the day manually digging through government websites and press releases.
02 Human Checked, AI Assisted
AI is a tool at TATS, not the editor. Every story published by the TATS News Team is reviewed by a real person before it goes live. Our editors decide whether a story is worth covering, check the important facts, add context and make the final call on what gets published.
For important information such as visas, immigration rules, government regulations and airline changes, we aim to trace claims back to reliable and preferably primary sources. AI can be extremely useful for finding and understanding information, but it can also get things wrong — which is exactly why a human remains responsible for the finished article.
03 Travel News Without the Corporate Nonsense
We're interested in news that actually affects travellers. That might be a new entry requirement, an airline launching a useful route, a popular attraction changing its rules or something wonderfully strange happening somewhere people love to visit.
We'd rather explain why something matters than simply rewrite a press release. We also don't pretend AI isn't part of modern publishing. We use it openly because it makes our human team faster and more capable, while keeping editorial judgement and responsibility where they belong: with people.
04 Led by TATS Man... Sort Of
The wider TATS network is led by TATS Man, who sets the overall direction, personality and editorial philosophy of the brand. The News Team handles the day-to-day research, verification and publishing while he provides what management assures us is strategic oversight.
Judging by the hammock and beer, this oversight can occasionally look suspiciously like a holiday.
