Not secret in the sense of undiscovered — most spots on this page have been found by someone — but genuinely off the main South Bali–Ubud–Nusa circuit that most first-time visitors stick to. The bar for this list is that it takes real effort to reach and doesn't show up on the standard "top things to do" round-ups.

03How to find your own
A local driver who's been doing this for years is often the single best resource — ask directly what they'd show a friend visiting, not what's on the standard tour list. Village-level word of mouth beats search results here more often than anywhere else on the island.
04A word of caution
Bali has seen "hidden gem" locations get overrun within a couple of years of going viral, sometimes damaging the site or the surrounding community in the process. Where we can, we'll flag it in these guides if a spot is heading that way — and it's worth treating any list like this, ours included, as a starting point rather than gospel.
