01Overview

Amankila (meaning "peaceful hill") sits on a cliffside above the Lombok Strait near Candidasa, in the quieter, less developed stretch of Karangasem regency covered in our East Bali guides. With just 34 stilted suites connected by treetop walkways, it's genuinely one of the smallest, most intimate large-scale luxury properties on the island.

02The three-tiered pool

Amankila's signature feature is a three-tiered infinity pool, designed to echo Bali's terraced rice fields, cascading down the cliffside toward the sea — widely considered one of the most photographed pools in Asia, and the reason many visitors recognise the property even without having stayed there.

03Setting, rooms & the beach club

Suites are elevated on stilts among the treetops with expansive private decks; a handful include their own plunge pools. Below the main resort, a private beach club leads to a black-sand beach on the Lombok Strait, with a separate 41-metre pool and watersports.

04Who it suits

A clear fit for couples and honeymooners wanting genuine remoteness and top-tier service in a slower-paced part of the island — see our East Bali guide for the broader regional character. Less suited to travellers wanting nightlife or easy access to South Bali's attractions.

05Practical notes

A genuine 90-minute-plus drive from the airport — see our Candidasa guide for the surrounding area, including nearby Tenganan village and diving around Amed and Tulamben.
