01Overview
Bangli is Bali's only regency without any coastline, sitting entirely inland across the island's central highlands — a genuinely different profile from the eight other regencies covered in our geography guide, built around agriculture and highland scenery rather than beaches.
02Kintamani & Mount Batur
The regency's best-known area by far, covered fully in our Kintamani guide — Bali's active volcano, crater lake, and the sunrise trek that draws visitors up from across the island.
03Penglipuran village
Also within Bangli, Desa Penglipuran offers one of the clearest looks at traditional Balinese village architecture and community life anywhere on the island.
04Why it stays the least visited
Without a coastline and with less developed tourism infrastructure than the coastal regencies, Bangli sees a fraction of the visitor numbers of Badung (South Bali) or Gianyar (Ubud) — most people pass through for Kintamani or Penglipuran specifically rather than lingering.
05Practical tips
Bangli's highland areas run noticeably cooler than the coast — pack accordingly if spending real time here beyond a quick Kintamani stop, and see our Bali month-by-month guide for how highland weather patterns differ from the coastal seasons.
